DRUMS

God of joy, freedom, vegetation, vines
Sashay, mane, hairdos, flabby forest
Ice cream, floppy pony tail, flapping
Tie, wobbly belt tip, bouncing pubic
Pack, nasal spray, thyrus, sheep camp
Trail, pine cones, fun celebrations
Dionysus son of Zeus and the immortal Semele

HOSPITALITY, CIVILIZATION, LAW, FERTILITY

When the first full noise arrived (rudely)
The weird white mist was lifting (slowly)
Mysterious gray desire frowning (brokenly)
Fears from charcoal gloaming,

                                                     Up rose a chill
Like a swarm of wet green tentacles all
Twisted memories, ice floes in collision.

SCARY AESTHETICS FEEDING PROGRAM FOR THE FAILED

Life's full of uncertainties the way repeating
A word again and again and again shows
That without a use in a situation it becomes
Junky because the reverse side also has reverse
Where the substitute's best when wholly different.

WHITE PEPPER GARBANZOS BAKED GARLIC OLIVE OIL

TO THE THIRTEENTH GENERATION, AN INVOCATION AND A FLAG*

                                                                 for Joe and John McGaha

GET WASHED YOU BLIND HANDSOME OCEAN.
YOUR SKIES PLUM COLORED, YOUR BOATS
OARLESS BOB IN THE MARMALADE WAVES.
YOUR HARBOR HAS A STONE IN ITS MOUTH

(A bussing wakens in grey fusion
as slowly the wingless rises. At
night your strange heart is music
learned in love.   Where are your rites?)

ONCE CALF WHITE YOUR PROMISE IS MEMORY,
YOUR NEED A HAZEL-WAND, EGGSHELLTHIN
WRITTEN IN AUTOGRAPH ON RED BLOOD CELLS.
GET UP, TEAR THE CLOUDS, SING AT NOON.

*BORN BETWEEN 1961 & 1981 (See Generations: A History of America's Future by Wm Strauss & Neil Howe)
